As of September 8th, Ford has announced that an additional 1,500,000 vehicles are at risk for this issue and are covered by the recall - which brings the expanded total of cars affected to 2,383,292.
The issue that has arisen stems from the pawl spring tab in the door latch which, when broken, can result in the door no longer being able to close. If you are an owner of a 2013-15 Ford C-MAX and Ford Escape, 2012-15 Ford Focus, 2015 Ford Mustang, 2015 Lincoln MKC or 2014-16 Transit Connect, you'll want to bring your vehicle into our service department for free replacements to the problematic door latches. There have been one accident and three injuries reported that may have been caused by the issue, so as always it's best to be safe in a situation like this.
